Thanks SO much for your comment. I always love to hear that I inspire just one person to explore more if they can :). And a fellow Prague lover at that! I love that you are thinking of teaching abroad, too!! Such a great idea, the best thing I ever did. I would start with enrolling in a TEFL course if you aren’t a certified teacher. That’s what I did in Prague! Or, if you want to make more money, Asia is great–sometimes they even pay your plane ticket, and they usually pay for your place! I like Dave’s ESL Cafe. I’m currently teaching with CETP in Hungary (www.cetp.info) which has a program fee but then you don’t have to pay rent the rest of the year. You can also teach for the Spanish government and then you don’t have to pay for a TEFL course right away :). Let me know if you want more info on that! Good luck and keep me posted!!

Love your blog, you inspire me! I lived in Prague 2 years ago while studying abroad there through my college and just recently went back for a couple days. I’m so in love with that city I will always go back. I’m now trying to plan my next move! I am an aspiring teacher and was just wondering how you got your teaching jobs abroad? Do you suggest any sites to check out? Do you have any tips about saving to move abroad? I feel like I’m at a standstill here getting so antsy to get back out there in the world. Any advice would be greatly appreciated!!!

Erica

I’m so happy to have you here :). It was a really interesting degree although I’m not officially using it right now. I kind of want to go back for an entire degree in Harry Potter–is that a thing? 😉

And the fact that you incorporated Harry Potter into a college paper is genius. I am so sad I didn’t attempt this during my undergrad. Can’t wait to read more of your blog!

My degree was interesting though! I learned so much, especially about clinical work and cultural studies. And trauma! It actually helps me in my current job with kids to think about how trauma might be affecting the way they learn. I really loved school and might just have to go back, haha ;). Good luck if you decide to go! But enjoy Germany for now!! 🙂

For my undergrad I actually majored in English and Psychology. I want to go back to school eventually for my Masters but I have no idea what for yet (hence the fact that I moved to Germany, haha). I love hearing about what others are taking though especially when it’s psych related! Anywho, really excited to follow along with your travels! 🙂

And try to learn from my mistakes and go abroad BEFORE grad school haha…although I’m happy I did AmeriCorps to help pay off these loans now (and for the great experience of course). Unfortunately my blog during my time in Thailand was total junk but if you really want the link, let me know. I just volunteered there but if you want to teach ESL it’s easy to get certified in Thailand and then teach there, or get certified elsewhere and teach in Thailand. I would love to go back and teach there but it doesn’t pay enough for my loans, unfortunately! Maybe someday, though! Good luck and feel free to get in touch if you have any questions about ANYTHING!!
