Hey Friends, I’m Jenn, a twenty something Marylander who loves traveling and books! I blog over at Making a Life where I talk about pretty much anything! I’m also a huge fan of Instagram and Pinterest so be sure to check those out, too! I’m so excited to be taking over Amy’s blog for the day and sharing one of my favorite places!
~
When I first signed on with Amy to do this series, I told her I’d be choosing to talk about either Costa Rica or Honduras. I have such a heart for Central America and had a hard time choosing which of these beautiful places I would share with you. I ended up choosing Honduras for the simple fact that I always guest post about Costa Rica.
So today I take you to:
Roatan was the last stop on our Honeymoon cruise in November of last year, and let me tell you, they saved the best for last! I knew I would love Roatan before we even got off the ship because instead of pulling up to high rises and resorts, we pulled up to trees. We also picked the best possible excursion here. I can not say enough about it.
This was my second time doing a canopy tour (third time Zip Lining) and Josh’s first. I could not have picked a better place for Josh to do his first Canopy Tour. The staff was wonderful, the views from the lines and the platforms were gorgeous, and the people in our group were so much fun! I also saw quite a bit of wildlife on this tour! People often get so caught up in the adrenaline rush that they forget to look down on these tours and miss out on some awesome wildlife below them, so don’t forget to enjoy your surroundings!
The second part of our excursion took us to beautiful Tabyana Beach! Talk about paradise! The beach is beautiful and clean and the water is like bath water. They’re also really good about keeping people from harassing the guest and they have multiple guards who look over your stuff to make sure that no one steals from you. Our guard (whos name I couldn’t spell if I tried) was awesome. He introduced himself and made sure we knew where everything was. I was able to talk to him a little bit about the Island and culture which was great – and none of my stuff was stolen so he definitely did his job well. We had the best time here and I would go back in a heartbeat!
What surprised me the most about Tabyana was the amazing snorkeling. You could rent equipment for $10 for the day and go out on your own. There was an area where kayakers sat because at that point you need a guide. They kayakers have a floatation device which you hold on to and it pulls you behind the kayak. They do this to protect both snorkelers and the reef. There are some areas where it is dangerous to touch the reef. The cost of this tour?? A good tip! I gave my guy $10 and it was so worth it!
This is one experience I definitely wasn’t expecting. I got out of the water after an amazing tour of the reefs to find Josh taking photos for a guy on the beach. I ran to see what was going on … and he was HOLDING MONKEYS!!! To say I flipped out would totally be an understatement and you bet I paid my $5 to get a chance to hold them!! The guy Josh was taking photos of took my photos and he snapped like 20 photos, and I’m glad he did! This was such an awesome experience for an animal lover like me!
Now I offer you a photo dump which will have you booking your cruise to Honduras by time you are done!

Thanks for taking us to Honduras, Jenn! I’ve always wanted to visit, and now I have more proof of why I should :). I hope you’ve all enjoyed this little trip to Central America. Check out the rest of the Around the World series, and if you’re interested in joining, please let me know!
