It’s going to get really old hearing this month after month, but I really cannot believe we’ve been here three months! I’m especially sad (kind of pretty depressed) that October is over, because it simply flew by and it’s one of my favorite months. However, it’s hard to be blue for long now that November and the holiday season are upon us!
While I was worried that this month’s recap would be boring as it’s mostly felt like work, work, work to me, after thinking about it, I realized it was full of fun and travel as well as work. It was actually our busiest (and most fun!) month yet!
Enjoy, and don’t forget to check out my one month and two month summaries!
THREE MONTHS IN PRAGUE: BY THE NUMBERS
ONE pumpkin-like gourd purchased for the autumn spirit!
TWO DAYS in South Moravia, or Czech wine country.
TOO MANY (probably) tasters of wine consumed in the Wine Cellar of the Czech Republic.
THREE glasses of the potent and delicious burčák, or young wine.
COUNTLESS leaves crunched while walking the lovely Stag Moat (thanks again, Tina!).
SIX HOUR dinner with new friends and co-workers tasting so many new Czech dishes.
27 HOURS spent in the fascinating city of Berlin for our visa interviews.
TEN FINGERS that have now touched a piece of what’s left of the Berlin Wall.
FIVE glorious days for Fall Break spent in the magical country of Austria.
FOUR delicious, decadent coffee drinks enjoyed in the atmospheric coffeehouses of Vienna.
MANY spoonfuls of pumpkin-kraut in Vienna devoured. If that doesn’t scream October in Europe, I don’t know what does!
TWO perfect (but cold!) nights spent with this view in one of my new favorite towns, Hallstatt.
ONE HOUR spent on top of the Alps.
ONE SCENE from The Sound of Music re-enacted in Salzburg.
MANY grand boulevards, tiny alleys, and beautiful European streets traversed as we’ve explored so much this month!
FIRST holiday as an expat on the books: Halloween! A very low-key holiday spent with pumpkin cookies (homemade though, which is HUGE), my bat earrings, Hocus Pocus, Harry Potter & as much Halloween candy as we could scrounge up. Plus, I taught “trick-or-treat!” to approximately 40 kids, had them draw pictures of their ideal costumes (and act them out), and passed out candy. Basically, Halloween should give me some extra cash for all of the PR I did for it that day!
What’s been going on with you this month?
Courtney says
You had me at wine country. Also, pumpkin-kraut?!?! I have no idea what that is, but I want all of it. I’ll be living vicariously through you as the holidays approach – I’m sure Prague must be absolutely magical that time of year 🙂
AmyMacWorld says
It’s sauerkraut made with pumpkin! i don’t really get it but I never want to stop eating it! And who knew the Czech Republic had such a great wine country?? And I hear amazing things about Prague at the holidays–I will probably be posting a million photos of it, so be prepared 😉

Haha I love that weird octopus thing! It’s my autumn decor :). Vienna has such cool coffeehouses with their own special coffee drinks. I picked a few at random and they were always so decadent lol. And it’s hard not to pretend to be Maria in Salzburg 😉

oh man, spending some time on the Alps sounds amazing! And that sure is a funny-shaped gourd! We must have arrived in our respective countries at the same time, because we just passed 3 months here in China, too!
AmyMacWorld says
Oh hey happy 3 months to you, too! are you doing recap posts? and yes, the Alps are incredible 🙂
Rachel G says
I haven’t really done any recaps, but I probably should at some point. I always think I’m going to remember everything but that’s not necessarily the case…
AmyMacWorld says
I always think I’ll remember things, too, but these recaps always have me scratching my head as I try to remember my month! So, they’re pretty helpful and fun for me personally 🙂
