Obviously you can tell there’s one thing on my mind right now: Europe!
Why hello there!
Sorry for the relative silence this week. While I’m glad my final tests, papers and presentations are spread out over two weeks, it also makes it feel like I will never be done with this quarter. The end is in sight, though: next week! Then, Spring Break! E and I are spending a few days in Estes Park, then I’ll be going home for a few days at the end of March.
The only thing getting me through this stress of school and internship is near-constant dreaming of all the new travels I will be having this year (which is kind of how I always deal with stress…it’s a way to cope, right?). We will be starting a training program for teaching English as a second language in August, then hopefully signing one-year or so contracts starting in September. While I have a feeling I will never want to leave Europe, we will see how we do with one year! I plan to continue this blog the entire time to catalogue our journey, so I hope you’ll follow along! Writing this blog has quickly become one of the highlights in my life, and I know it will be a great way to journal our life abroad.
As for how I will use this degree I’ve been working to complete, that is not immediately clear, but I hope to get my foot in the door somewhere and see what I can do :). I’ll write more about this process and my decision later.
For the most part, it really does feel like a dream come true!
(Well, at least right at this second. I cycle rapidly between being so excited I can’t sit still, focused too much on the practical matters, or deciding it’s a terrible idea and we shouldn’t go. I’m just a ball of light and fun!).
While I plan on fully enjoying my new city of Prague, there’s also so much else to see in Europe. Besides this past summer and a few quick summer trips, most of my time abroad has been spent elsewhere than Europe, so I am excited to visit and see, well, everything! Below you’ll find a chronicle of my ideal experiences, and a list (in pictures…I’ve recently discovered the joys of PicMonkey…can you tell?).
Dream trips:
+ Driving through the Scottish Highlands and taking a ferry to the Isle of Skye
+ Renting a camper van in Iceland
+ The Northern Lights in Iceland
+ Taking a fancy train through the Alps
+ Skiing in Switzerland
+ Kissing under the Eiffel Tower
+ The midnight sun in Scandinavia
+ A Christmas Market tour in Germany
+ Running through fields of tulips in the Netherlands
+ Lake Bled, Slovenia for our anniversary
+ Wine tasting…anywhere (France? Italy?)
+ Trekking to a monastery/brewery in Belgium
+ Ballooning in Cappadocia, Turkey
+ An entire month devoted to Italy
+ Cruising the Mediterranean
+ Cruising the Black Sea
+ Riding a gondola in Venice
+ Watching a sunset in the Greek isles
+ Swimming with dolphins in Madeira
+ Scuba diving the Red Sea
+ Oktoberfest in Munich
+ Cruising the Rhine River
+ Visiting the hot baths in Budapest
+ Boating on the canals of Amsterdam
+ Renting a car and driving through Ireland
AND so.many.more. I have to stop now or I’ll never stop! Plus, a girl’s got to have her priorities. Too bad I want to see everything, eh?
If you’ve been to Europe, what were some of your favorite experiences? I’m dying to hear them!
