Spoiler alert: I want to go everywhere.
The irony of traveling is that the more you see, the more you want to see. (It’s an affliction uncommonly known as “Traveler’s Irony,” fyi).
Who can relate?
I’m constantly adding new spots to explore on my various lists, but here are a few on my hopes and dreams list for the rest of 2016 and 2017!
Slovenia
Slovenia has been on my list since before we moved to Prague. I keep planning on going there–and the plans keep getting put off. We were hoping to travel through there on our way to Croatia during our visa trip in 2015, but we had to leave the Schengen more quickly than we thought so…no. Then, we were planning on driving there last May with a friend, but it ended up being the weekend after my sister’s wedding in the States, and we just couldn’t swing it. It looks like it’s finally happening this fall, though!

Morocco
I’ve been dying to get to Africa for years. It has always seemed like such a huge dream, though! But, Morocco seems within reach from Budapest. I’ve also heard it’s a good country for an African introduction. Tell me, have you been?

The Iberian Peninsula
Ideally a stop after a trip to Morocco, I would love to visit Portugal or Spain (or in a dream world, both). How is it that I haven’t yet visited?!

Turkey
I am so, so anxious to explore Turkey. As much as I hate to admit it, though, because I never want fear to drive where I choose to travel, the political situation there right now is nerve-wracking. That doesn’t mean I won’t go–but I do want to be aware and prepared when I do!

Poland
We crossed into Poland briefly during a hiking trip in the Czech Republic, but it’s time to go back and make it official! Meeting several Polish travelers in Romania this summer sealed the deal. We’ll be going there next spring!

Faroe Islands
This one is getting realllllly day dreamy now, but since both E and I will be turning 30 next summer (gag me), we might decide to do a big trip like this.

Estonia, Finland & Russia
It’s not easy to get a visa to Russia, but you can take an overnight cruise to St. Petersburg from either Helsinki or Tallinn, get a one-day visa for the city, and then cruise back out the next night. The ideal trip would be to start in Helsinki, cruise to St. Petersburg, then head to Tallinn from there…no one ever accused me of having tiny dreams ;).

Sweden
I’ve noticed some cheap weekend flights to Stockholm or Mälmo lately from Budapest so I’m keeping my eye out and we might take a spontaneous weekend getaway!
