Snapshots and Snippets is a series that showcases some of my favorite Instagram photos from a specific location.
Now that I’ve been to Belgium twice, I can say that my love for this little country is true. We spent a fairy tale few days in Bruges in the summer of 2013, and then traveled this past Christmas to Brussels, Bruges and Ghent. Going in the height of summer and in the middle of the Christmas season were fairly different experiences, but a few things were constant: the waffles, the fries, the beer, the chocolate, the charm, the friendly people, and the fact that Bruges is a fully discovered tourist spot (and will be crowded even in winter).
I feel that Belgium is often overlooked for nearby biggies Germany, France, and the Netherlands. Now that I’ve traveled in all of those countries (although only to Valkenburg in the Netherlands!) I think that Belgium still holds its own. Every time I visit Bruges, I don’t want to leave, and I after exploring more, I feel that way about the rest of Belgium, too. And not just because of the fries (but seriously, the fries).

Such pretty pictures from Belgium. I just love sceneries with cute little windmills…

Yes, isn’t it picturesque??

I agree – Belgium is a great travel destination! And I feel the same way about Bruges. I’ve been three times, and I still wouldn’t mind going again!
AmyMacWorld says
Oh I know! Bruges is just so amazing. I was thinking I’d be done with it for awhile after Christmas but I really want to see it in the spring and fall, haha!

What outrageous views! I’m just keeping my fingers crossed that the dollar gets stronger, then I’m on my way!
AmyMacWorld says
Yeah what is up with the dollar?! The Czech koruna is bottoming out too, which is painful when I have to pay my student loans back in the US!

Aww these pictures make me feel nostalgic! Nice choice on Kasteelbier π

It’s my favorite beer, ever, I think! I loved the winter version, too π

We may have been there around the same time! The family and I were there the very first weekend in December and we did Brussels and Bruges during our three day visit!! Love the windmill pic! Didn’t get a chance to see one during our visit
AmyMacWorld says
We biked to this one a few miles outside of Bruges in the summer. Not sure I would have made the trip in the winter, haha π I think we were just a few weeks behind you. Did you enjoy Belgium?

I wouldlike to go to Belgium. I’ve only flown in via the airport so that doesn’t count. Thanks for linking up.
AmyMacWorld says
Thanks, it’s a fun link-up π I love going through my old photos on Instagram, it’s easy to forget ones you’ve posted in the past! Hopefully next time you’ll be able to leave the airport, at least for a little while!

Belgium is definitely underrated as a place to visit. Ghent is definitely one of my favourite ‘big’ place to go, I’m definitely taking another trip in the summer to see some more of it!
AmyMacWorld says
Yes I was surprised by Ghent, I hope to go back when it’s not so cold!!
