I’ve been taking selfies before “selfie” was a word (does this date me?), sometimes out of vanity, but usually out of what I perceive as necessity.
When you’re traveling alone or with just one other person, you’ll learn that sometimes, you want to throw yourself in front of whatever you’re taking a picture of, be it a building, a canal, a mountain or the ocean. Maybe you want to prove that you were there, maybe you just want a picture of yourself with this amazing vista, maybe your mother is asking for more pictures of your face.
Either way, the travel selfie is a thing all travelers understand. I’ve learned there are many kinds of travel selfies. As you’ll see below, many of these types of travel selfies are more successful than others. I’ll let you be the judge of the hits-and-misses yourself.
(P.S. Why “selfie” may be mostly a word, my spellcheck certainly doesn’t seem to think so…)
(Note: most of these pictures are unflattering. You’ve been warned!)
