Korčula, an island!
Of the clearest water,
And the brightest blue skies,
And the most ridiculous heat I have ever known.
You have the most charming walled town–
Some say a “mini Dubrovnik,”
With the most delicious wine,
And how can I not mention that seafood risotto?
They say Marco Polo once sailed from here,
Be it true, it’s still fun
To imagine yourself an old timey explorer.
Find a place with a view (like this one),
And maybe rent a scooter (I didn’t and was blue)
And remember to stay hydrated–
and have a swim or two!
My heart still goes aflutter
When I see an image of your water.
And the best I can say,
The best advice I can give, fellow traveler–
Is that three days on Korčula
will not be nearly long enough.
Linking up with Wanderlust Wednesday.

Oh my goodness, Croatia is so perfect!!! I was thinking about heading to Dubrovnik this autumn but flights from Tromso are just too expensive. Definitely want to explore the country asap though. It seems like heaven on earth!!

It IS quite amazing. I never could get over the color of the water–it seemed to beautiful to be real!! You were able to book a trip in September to Spain at least, right? 🙂

Your photos make me dream about this island! I was very close to visit Croatia this year. I ended up choosing another destination but hope I can visit in the future.

Oh my gosh, just wow! That is so much sun, I wouldn’t know what to do with myself! Also, that risotto looks delicious!

Great post!! I will have to keep in mind that a longer stay here is of the utmost necessity. Did you just spend all of your time swimming there because of the heat, or.. ? 🙂
Lauren Bishop says
Yes! I completely loved Korcula for all the same reasons. It is so beautiful, the water is stunning, the food is delicious! Sadly most of my three days there were cloudy/rainy so I have very few photos, which actually just made me love yours all the more!

What a stunner of a place 😮 I’m always totally enthralled by Croatia, I have only seen such a small part of the country but loved every inch. And you’ve got to love those bougainvillea. I’m glad you had such a great time, just look at that water…! I don’t know how you didn’t spend the entire 3 days swimming!
