When I heard that this month’s travel link-up was all about a place you can’t get out of your head, I went with the first place that popped in my head: Ireland!
It’s hard to put a finger on why I love Ireland so much. I’m particularly partial to the West Country, more so than Dublin and the surroundings. I’ve been to Ireland twice–and generally I can’t wait to go to new places, but Ireland? Well I would live there, go there again and again, and visit every little corner. Even theΒ name of the country has me daydreaming about the next time I’ll get to visit.
I think I love it because it’s one of those places you always hear about–but also one of those places that meets all (sometimes too high) expectations. The green is so true it hurts your throat; the coast is in turns charming and dramatic; the people are so fun and friendly; the mysterious ruins the come out of the green will take your breath away and capture your imagination. I love that there a little pockets where Irish is still spoken, but the traditional seems alive in some way all over the country.
Ireland is just…magic.
So what do you think? Would you be able to get Ireland out of your head?
Linking up with Kelly, Emma, Rebecca and Liz!

Ireland is #1 on my list! If someone handed my $5000 and said plan a trip, I’d go to Ireland (and probably England, too)!
AmyMacWorld says
I think you could manage both with $5000 π Ireland actually is a pretty good budget option! Especially compared to the rest of of Europe.
Tammy Chrzan says
Ahhh I have to completely and totally agree with you on Ireland, I went last year and this past summer, I absolutely LOVE Ireland, it’s a magical place, it’s breathtaking and the whole time you’re there, you wonder why you can’t live in such an enchanting place! I adore Ireland! Tammy x
AmyMacWorld says
Aww I’m glad you agree, Tammy! Why CAN’T we live in Ireland?!
Tammy Chrzan says
Well… Maybe we can!! If we get a job on the critical job list! I’m working on it!
AmyMacWorld says
Keep me posted! π
Claire says
Ireland is magic! I’ve been to Dublin a couple of times but I’ve never explored further afield – definitely on the list! Your photos are gorgeous, I love how bright and sparkly all the colours are!
AmyMacWorld says
Dublin is a nice city but I think the true magic lies in the countryside–maybe you’ll be able to venture outside of Dublin next time :). And thank you, although I think Ireland itself can mostly take the credit for my pictures ha!
Kaelene @ Unlocking Kiki says
I really need to explore Ireland! Like asap!
AmyMacWorld says
It’s totes the BEST.
Yalanda_Meshell says
Ireland = magic! Yes, so true! Lovely photos, makes me want to hop on a plane and go right back!
AmyMacWorld says
That’s right, you went honeymooning there! What a magical place for a honeymoon. We almost went there but we decided to go somewhere we’d both never been before π plus, cheaper ha.

Beautiful photos! I’ve barely seen anything of Ireland; I’ve been to Dublin twice but have never seen the countryside, which I hear is the really magical part of the country π
AmyMacWorld says
Yes I agree–the magic lies outside of Dublin! Although still a very nice city π
Jessi @2feet1world says
Ah, gorgeous! I’ve only been to Dublin which increasingly feels totally remiss… some more planning needed I think to get me there!
AmyMacWorld says
Yes the true magic lies in the countryside I think–and it’s not so hard to get to! I actually found cheaper tickets into Shannon Airport when I flew in although that was ages ago. It just captured my heart! π
Emma @ AdventuresofaLondonKiwi says
…Every night, Every day, Just to be there in your aaaaaaaaaaaaaarms. Sorry, Kylie is now stuck in my head, so I thought I’d share!
Love, love love this post – we similarily fell in love with the Emerald Isle!
AmyMacWorld says
Haha I’m glad you understood my reference ;). Ireland is just simply perfection, isn’t it?!
Kerri says
Ireland has been on my must visit list for such a long long time!
AmyMacWorld says
It’s so special! I hope you can make it there soon π
Anna Parker says
gorgeous photos – I love ireland but haven’t seen enough – but I love the wild bits, Donegal and Derry and north of Killarney. We sailed to within a mile or so of the Irish coast in the fasnet race last month – it loomed out of the fog, stunning as always!
AmyMacWorld says
Wow what a great experience–seeing Ireland come out of the fog! Talk about magical π
casacaudill says
The first time I visited Ireland in 2009 I was smitten and we talked about going back someday. Since then I’ve been twice more – once for work, and then this past May to scout neighborhoods … for our move there this month! Indeed, Ireland is a very special place. I can’t wait to spend some more time in the West though since when we went it was flooded from a pretty major storm.
AmyMacWorld says
How exciting!! How did you manage to move there?! I would love to do that but we can’t figure out how…are you living in Dublin?
casacaudill says
My husband’s company transferred him. Based on everything we went through to get here – the process took about a year from start to finish – it’s my understanding that right now Ireland isn’t too interested in having immigrants. There are programs for young people to come over for a year but then you have to leave. We will be in Dublin for two years and if we stay, we will have to get an entirely different visa.
AmyMacWorld says
Yes I’ve heard that they aren’t too interested in immigrants–I suppose they want all the jobs to go to the young Irish who keep leaving, no? How awesome that you get to be there, even for two years! I love that country so much.
Robyn says
Oh Ireland, so easy to fall in love with. I have never seen such green, no wonder it is called the Emerald Isle!
AmyMacWorld says
Right! The green almost hurts your eyes!
Kelly Michelle says
I can see why you can’t get Ireland out of your head…I really want to do a road trip through Ireland visiting all the castles! xx
Around the World in 80 Pairs of Shoes
AmyMacWorld says
Yes that would be such a dream! I’m dying to road trip there and in Scotland π
Van @ Snow in Tromso says
I really want to do a roadtrip through Ireland one day!!! The country seems stunning!
AmyMacWorld says
Me too! It’s so gorgeous, I would love to have a car and just stop to take in the views whenever I wanted π
Camila @ AdventitiousViolet says
I’ve read so many things recently on Ireland and I want to go so bad right now! Which I should lets be honest since I’m next door!
AmyMacWorld says
Yeah…you have NO excuses for not being in Ireland right this minute! π Except I think I saw on Instagram that you’re in Italy so…I guess that’s a valid reason π
